8 Tips for a strong memory

Having a good memory is very important. You can improve your memory when you consume memory foods on a daily basis. It will make your memory sharp and will protect you from brain diseases.

Follow these tips to make your memory sharp:
1-Get enough sleep
Maybe you heard it many times but getting enough sleep is crucial for your memory.
You need to get at least 8 hours of sleep because 6-8 hours window is one of the most important areas of sleep.
It is the R.E.M sleep, and if you don’t get it, you are not going to remember what you learned during the day. 
2-Drink plenty of water
Our brains depend on proper hydration to function at the highest level. 
Brain cells need a delicate balance between water and various elements to operate.
This balance will disrupt when you lose too much water. Dehydration will make hard for you to focus and it can impair short memory function.
Exercise helps the brain in many ways:
It stimulates the growth of new connections between cells in a wide array of critical areas of the brain.
A study from Stockholm showed that the antidepressant effect of running is associated with more cell growth in the hippocampus.
Hippocampus is responsible for learning and memory.

4-Reduce stress
Stress is without question the worst enemy to your memory.
Stressful life events could harm your memory and learning capacity. It reduces the gray matter in brain regions associated with emotions, self-control, and psychological functions.
As you learn new information, your brain generates new neurons in the hippocampus. When you experience stress, the production of new neurons in the hippocampus halt. 
It may also affect the speed of connections between hippocampal cells.
5-Salt levels in your body affect your memory
Salt plays an important part of your memory. A lack of salt may harm your memory because salt is used as a stimulant to encourage the brain to create new memories.
Low levels of salt in the body may impede your ability to create new memories. But, excessive consumption of salt may lead to Alzheimer disease.
6-Avoid excessive sugar
Glucose is a key source of energy for every cell in your body. Because the brain is very rich in nerve cells, or neurons, it is the most energy demanding organ.
Brain functions are linked to glucose levels and how efficiently the brain uses this fuel source.
But over-consumption of sugar is dangerous too. The hippocampus is very sensitive to sugar. 
Damage to the hippocampus may lead to developing Alzheimer’s or depression.
7-Avoid excessive alcohol
It is going to hurt your memory in the current short-term memory. But it also has very damaging effects on your long-term memory over time.
Studies have been shown that small amounts of alcohol and having a glass of wine a day is good for your memory.
8-The Mind remember what it sees
How many times you have been introduced to somebody and then five weeks later you meet again, and you say:
“I never forget a face, but I can’t remember your name .”
This happens because you saw the face, you never saw the name. The mind remembers what it sees. If you want to start remembering stuff, you have to be able to turn it into a picture.
